If you’re applying for a Stafford or PLUS loan, you’ll need to supply the
lender’s Lender Code. The Lender Code is six digit
identification number assigned by the US Department of
Education to lenders that participate in the Title IV higher
education loan programs.

Use this form to find the code. The City and State fields are optional, and
can help you find a specific branch or office. Use the Lender Code field to look
up a lender’s name based on their code.

If you don’t know the lender’s full name, you can enter part of their name in
the Name field; this will give you a longer list of results, though. Entering
“West” in the Name field will return a list of all of the lenders with “West” in
their names (including Northwest Bank, Great Western Bank & Trust, Western Bank
of Cheyenne, West Hills Bank, etc.).
